Power Thesaurus Chrome extension

Power Thesaurus is a free productivity tool and is the official Google Chrome extension. Through it, users will be able to search and look up word definitions and synonyms straight from their web browser. It also provides various tools and options to customize the user experience.

Just like Collins English Thesaurus and WordWeb, Power Thesaurus helps make the process of looking up word definitions simple and intuitive. What gives it an advantage over its contemporaries is its seamless integration that allows users to perform searches in just a couple of clicks.

Definitions and synonyms

There are basically two ways to use Power Thesaurus. The first is by using the search bar to look for a specific word that you need. Results will appear immediately, and a click on a word will copy it, so you can paste it to other documents or text. Alternatively, you can hover over it to get additional options, namely search or define.

The second method to use Power Thesaurus is through highlight searching. While browsing, use your mouse to highlight a specific word and use the right-click contextual menu to look it up. You will again see a pop-up window showing all possible definitions, as well as every synonym related to it. Click on which you need and be redirected to the full list page.

From the same web page, you'll also be provided with other links you can check out, such as related antonyms, and even see examples in sentences. Do note that you will need to log in with an account to use this extension, and this is where some issues happen. There have been multiple reports of users having login problems preventing them from using this tool.

A handy tool

Overall, if you work with words a lot and need to quickly look up definitions and such, the Power Thesaurus Chrome extension is a must-have to help improve your vocabulary and productivity. It's easy to use, quite customizable, and seamlessly integrates with your web browser, and does not get in the way until needed. Grab it now and try it for yourself.

Softonic

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
